Antique porcelain cup and saucer set
Antique cup and saucer set made by Sarraguemines et Digoin, France.
The history of the Sarreguemines earthenware factory dates back to 1790. After the Revolution, the brothers Jacoby and Joseph Fabry chose the town of Sarreguemines to create their earthenware factory. They installed it in an oil mill on the banks of the river: the Saar allowed the machines to operate and the wood for the ovens to be transported from the Vosges forests. Around twenty workers make a fine earthenware called pebble (composed mainly of white plastic clay and flint or quartz).
Dimensions: dish; width 18 cm / cup; width 11.5 cm - height 5.4 cm.
